About My Husband's Project "Bach On Bach" and His Exciting Websites

One of the first Bach monuments, which we "discovered" in our mission. Of course, it was known to the Bach experts before, that there is one in Ulm, Germany, in the Ulm Cathedral. However, there were no pictures around on the internet and the broad public, that was interested, did not know about this indoor Bach monument. You get to all the Bach monuments with a click here.

What Does "Bach On Bach" Mean? 

My husband, Peter Bach Jr., is related to Johann Sebastian Bach, and he is a joker. He loves wordplay and funny numbers. That is why I publish 33 Bach calendars, 33 composers calendars and 33 music calendars. Of course, it was his idea. Genealogy is my hobby, and so I found out, Peter is related to the composer from Thuringia. That triggered our interest to learn more about that genius and as we had a hard time first, we both decided to offer "Bach Light" for future interested generations on the internet and beyond. Bach with much entertainment. First Peter started with his website Bach on Bach which means he – as a Bach – is telling the world about Bach ... the musician. It's not that funny in English as in German the wordplay has two meanings. One meaning is the same as in English, but the second means "Bach and even more Bach". So sorry, folks, there's nothing to smile about, if you read on this page. The German-speaking visitors on the German website do. Later Peter's next website came into being which is Johann Sebastian Bach for Children and next was the third, which is Bach in Wechmar.

The Bach Genealogy 

There were a round dozen genealogists who meticulously compiled the Bach genealogy of today. 95 percent of the Bach Genealogy was researched before we entered the "Bach stage" ... with a smile ... so to speak. With a smile ...so to speak. But gaps were also passed down. The most difficult era was the one around the time of Veit Bach, and it still was for a long time until our present time. Not without the internet it was at all possible to research these two periods more deeply: the time of and before Veit and the present. But it was possible. A small sensation is the discovery of documents which clarify that there were two generations of Bachs before Veit, which are assignable, in a time when the Bach family was not yet the Musician Family Bach.  And it is now also possible to assign at least two, but probably even five other lines. On Bach on Bach you will learn everything in much more detail, there you can get to know all the theories, read about Pressburg, smile about Korabinsky and also about Ungern or Ungarn or Hungary and about much, much beyond that. In the background is father Johann August Reinhold Bach, who died on his journey to Thuringia in Canada with the "Empress of Ireland" when the ship sank after a collision and he drowned.

So why do you know about the tragedy around the Titanic, but you don't know about the "Empress of Ireland", in which more passengers drowned than in the accident of the Titanic with the iceberg? This is because this tragedy happened "on the eve" of the World War I and this news and the event was quickly forgotten later.

A tragedy: Johann August Reinhold Bach died, his daughter survived. Of course, he had all the genealogy documents with him on his journey to the homeland of his ancestors. They too, of course, were lost forever.

Bach in Books 

So in about 2023 / 2024 Bach on Bach wants to be a perfect Bach book guide. There were and are about 700 biographies about the genius. Of course, you can't buy them all any more today. But there are still far too many to be quite sure that you have chosen the right one. Some of the best are no longer available hot off the press, a novel is much better than many a biography, and anyone who is even a little enthusiastic about conspiracy theories will love my husband's recommendation. Take a look at Bach on Bach in the book corner today. And then next year again ... and then once in a while. Already today, a visit there is definitely worthwhile. 

These recommendations alone are worth their weight in gold for those who are looking for them: The so-called "bibles" of the Bach Genealogy. Important for your own research, but since there is "Bach on Bach", of course far from being up to date.

... books of today (... with the particular one above you just have to be a German native speaker, as much fun is built on the spelling mistakes and the expression of these kids. There will never be an English version of this cute book. So sorry about that) ...

Bach on Stamps 

What a beauty: a Bach stamp from China.

There are approximately 160 Bach Stamps issued in some 100 years to honor this extraordinary composer from Eisenach in Thuringia. Peter Bach Jr. has not only compiled them all, but he also physically owns them ... as the only person on earth. There are not many important countries in the world that have never issued a Bach stamp. One of those countries – a pity and hopefully not forever – is the United States of America.

Sure, the Caribbean is represented. Not only by Grenada. 

Bach Videos and Bach's Music

Bach Videos? Yes ...1,089 (... 33 x 33) special music videos in the project present Johann Sebastian Bach's most popular and well-known musical works.  Plus, you can choose what images you would like to watch with them. That is, you can combine the 33 most famous and popular Bach musical works with 33 thematic photo tracks. This is a really great introduction to Bach's oeuvre of 1,128 pieces of music, a gigantic lifetime achievement (... which, however, led to many more pieces of music, but which no longer exist). Important: On "Bach on Bach", first select the musical work of Bach. And only afterwards the photo series. The other way round ... it actually does not work.

The option to get to know Bach's music in just 333 seconds is particularly exciting. You can listen to the 33 most popular pieces of music by the Eisenach composer in such a compact form that real, conservative and serious classical music fans can perhaps only shake their heads.

In addition, there are many videos about the cities and places where Bach lived and worked, the Bach towns and the Bach locations. That is, a video about Eisenach and one about Leipzig, one about Weimar and one about Wechmar (... Wechmar, where J.S. Bach neither lived nor worked) ... short, likeable videos with Bach's music ... but also with the music of modern composers. Watch at least one of them. Just imagine if you didn't: You might like all the videos immensely, and you would "miss" them all. We have collected and compiled them all and you will also learn more about the personalities who have honored Bach. Alternatively, you can give yourself a great treat, because "the best of the best" quotes are also available as an audio file, accompanied by Bach's music and with an 8-minute short biography: It's simply the perfect entertainment in the next morning traffic jam to work. Bach Monuments

Did you know that there is a very modern Bach monument in Ansbach in Bavaria, Germany? And also a very hidden one in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany? That the two Bach monuments in Leipzig, Germany are barely 20 steps apart and that there is a monument on which Beethoven's quote about Bach is immortalized? There are 33 Bach monuments, and we found the most recently discovered one in Berlin. More precisely in Pankow. There – in Berlin – another one is missing for it since the end of the war. However, we still found a picture of this Bach monument. And on the right pages at Bach on Bach you will also get to know the Bach monuments in Prague (Czech Republic), in Shanghai (China), in Paris (France) and in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania; USA).
